I am sure we have all experienced this at some point in our lives:
"You know who you look like?"
Or,
"You look just like [insert random relative/friend/celebrity that looks nothing like you here]...".
I don't know why this annoys me a little bit, and it really should be something that, at this point, glides right off my back. But I am always filled with a moment of curiosity as I await the answer. As the person flips through their mental Rolodex of possible matches, the only thing I think is...well, who?
Along with a whole list of other random people, here are my most "frequently told look alikes":
L-R: Rosario Dawson (my brother-in-law is convinced); Beyoncé (apparently one of my YouTube videos has generated a mass of "you look like Beyoncé'" comments -- go figure!); Scary Spice (this one is from elementary school...I guess because we had the same hair); Leona Lewis (my dad came across this Leona Lewis video--I overheard him saying to my mom, "That looks like Sophia..."); Tracee Ellis Ross (the hair and big eyes...); Tia & Tamara Mowry (my sister and I both got this one); Isabelle Adjani (an Algerian-French actress my French teacher said I looked like...yeah... I don't know about it.); Alice Smith (someone physically stopped me in the club--during my prehistoric clubbing days--on the way to bathroom to ask me, you know who you look like? Alice Smith! ...I had no idea who this Alice Smith person was at the time.).
And the last picture is me because that's who I really look like :-)

Once at a party, a young lady came up to me and said "Omg you look just like Janet jackson..in her rhythm nation days!" and I was like HUH?!?!
The only thing I can say we have alike is the skin color...nothing else!! lol..was weird but I brushed it off.
As a child, I was always told I look like this cousin that I have never met. I found her on Facebook recently and been going thru her pics..I still can't figure out how they come to that conclusion but I let 'em have their moment lol
Honestly you and Rosario favor, not sure about the other lovely ladies. I understand your being annoyed, lol I'd be annoyed too, but take it as a compliment you're a beautiful woman whom others believe look like/favor other beautiful women. :)

You are very beautiful and kinda look like Beyoncé (some features). I also am a mixed girl (black/white) and people used to tell me the same thing about Mel B and the Mowry twins! I guess it's only because of the curly hair and skin tone.. Oh and I am french and the name of the actress is Isabelle Adjani not Abidjan which is the economic capital of Ivory Coast lol :) I love your blog by the way, you seem to be a very sweet girl.Wish you the best in life. (wondered if I should have written all that in french, maybe you would have understood ;)

I've gotten all types of other actresses (don't look like ANY) and I totally see the Rosario & Alice "resemblance" (see I didn't say you DO look like) LOL

Haha, yes it's always some random cousin!! I hate when people say that lol because you have absolutely no reference. Yeah sometimes you just have to let people have their moment. Too true!

Thanks, lady :-) I'm definitely not offended AT All (if anything, these are some lovely compliments) but sometimes I ask myself why can't I just look like me lol. It makes me feel not like an individual. But in the end, there's no reason to lose any sleep over this. It's just a funny thing.
